Lynx HQ
Some info about our "new" HQ
in Littleover
At the start of 2007 we
decided that we needed a permanent meeting place - not only to allow us
to have meetings and "in" activities so that we're not going out all the time, but
also so that we'd be more visible in the local community and have a base
from which to run promotional, recruitment and fundraising events.
Since June 2007, we have been based at the Derby South District Scout
Activity Centre in Littleover. Details of how to find us can be found
here.
We have since found out that the building was originally constructed in
1957 and so it was in it's 50th anniversary year that we started using
it.
In September 2008, we were very grateful to receive a donation of £2,500
from PricewaterhouseCoopers towards the refurbishment of the Activity
Centre. Work is progressing well - we have a new lawn mower, the
electrics have been sorted out, a new sign has been built, one of the
wooden walls has been partially rebuilt and painted and work has begun
on insulating the walls and plastering the interior.

For the last few years, the Centre has had little use and as a result is
in need of some TLC! We're in the process of bringing it
back to a standard suitable for use not just by us, but also for all the other
Scout groups in the area for which it is intended. A significant amount of work has
already been done, but there is still plenty to do
- such as painting both inside and out, repairing the windows, kitchen
improvements and tidying up the outside.
Lynx Network would be extremely grateful for any donations of material or equipment; such as
paint, lawn mowers, kitchen appliances and equipment, vacuum cleaner,
general DIY equipment, curtain material, etc. Or any offers of help
would be gratefully received.
If you have anything you
are able to donate, please contact us.
